New to genealogy? Not sure where to start? Tip #1 - Start with what you know. Begin building a family tree starting with yourself, your parents, siblings, and spouse and kids if you have them. Come back tomorrow for tip #2! #genealogytips #genealogy #familytree #foundation #howtogetstarted #ancestors #ancestry #startwithwhatyouknow
Genealogy tip #2! After you have added your immediate family to your tree, now validate the information from reliable sources. This means birth certificates, death certificates, marriage license, etc. Update your tree if there were mistakes but don’t attach docs to your tree. It’s a privacy issue for living people so instead just store in a safe place, like a fire proof safe.

Genealogy tip #3! When adding people to your tree on @ancestry use the hints with caution. Add your ancestors manually because when you add through a hint, it’s adding someone else’s work. They could have mistakes (likely they do) and if they make changes, it affects your tree. Hints are clues, not certainty.
